Frequently asked questions
How often should brake pads be replaced?
It depends on the car, how you drive and the pads themselves. There's no fixed mileage: what matters is checking them at every service and replacing them when they reach their wear limit.
Do the discs need replacing at the same time as the pads?
Not always. We measure the thickness and check the condition of the discs; if they're below the minimum or warped, they're replaced. We explain this to you first.
The brake warning light has come on. Can I keep driving?
If the light is red or the pedal feels soft, stop somewhere safe and call us: the brake fluid may be low or there may be a fault. If it's a pad wear warning, book an appointment as soon as possible.
How often should brake fluid be changed?
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which is why manufacturers recommend changing it every few years. Check your service schedule or call us with the model and year.
