What should I do if the engine overheats?
Stop somewhere safe and switch the engine off. Don't open the coolant cap while the engine is hot. Then call us and we'll work out how to get the car to the garage.
Is it worth repairing the engine or is it better to replace it?
It depends on the fault, the overall condition of the car and its value. First the problem has to be diagnosed; then we explain the options so you can decide.
My car is smoking. Is it serious?
The colour of the smoke gives clues: bluish usually means it's burning oil, thick white smoke can point to coolant, and black is usually linked to combustion. Either way, it's worth having it checked soon.
My car won't start. Can I still bring it in?
